Image of the Week, 4-16-14

Todays image of the week is from the Camargue in southern France. The Camargue is a large wetland area just south of Arles. It is home to over 400 species of birds including these Greater Flamingos and the famous Camargue white horses. The area has a kind of "cowboy culture" as it has been used for cattle, specifically fighting bulls, and farming for centuries.

*Just a reminder, this image as well as every image on ScaneLife is for sale as part of the month long "Bday Celebration". Check out the Home page to find out details.

Image's of the Week.

It's pretty self explanatory - I make stuff and want to show you.

Image's of the Week on ScaneLife will feature Art, Photography, Furniture, Videos and more so check back every Monday, Wednesday and Friday to see the new image.

This first one is from last summers trip to France. It was taken in Ménerbes in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region ( South of France ). Dora Maar, one of Picasso's lovers and later wife to artist Nicolas de Staël lived in Ménerbes.

Happy 4th from France ( Tour-de )

It's the 4th of July 2013 and we are staying in a small village near the route for the Tour de France. I checked the schedule online to see that the race would be going through the town of Beaucaire which is about 25 minutes away. I grabbed my camera bag and iPad for GPS and made it about 15 minutes before the riders came hauling through, way faster than I thought and it was over in a matter of minutes. I'm not into cycling at all but it was pretty cool to see from 4 feet away. Here are a few of the pictures I took....

It kind of reminds me of riding on the boardwalk ( pick your beach town ) on the 4th of July.

Does this look familiar?

If you are a painter or art lover you might recognize this scene, taken in Arles, France.  If you are in the area here's a tip from the locals...Dont' eat there!

Any guesses as to what this place is or who made a famous painting of it?
